I launder unmentionables in the washing machine with bleach. Never a problem with odour. Also, pre-treating with a stain fighter/remover (if needed) such as Shout, never hurts.

Speaking of diapers (cloth diapers), nothing beats good old household vinegar. Not only does a vinegar rinse help balance the pH level in diapers, it helps dissolve soap buildup and residue which can cause odor and lead to diaper rash.

I also swear by washing diapers in hot water (no exceptions). Hot water better extracts soiling, leaving diapers cleaner and fresher and more sanitary. As for drying, hanging diapers (and rubber pants) outside on the clothesline is da-bomb! Diapers and rubber pants always got pinned-up outside on the line at our house (warmer months of the year).

Sunlight kills bacteria and sterilizes, plus natural sunlight bleaches, leaving diapers white while at the same time reducing staining.

As for blood stains, etc, I swear by Shout. For tough stains I allow the Shout to sit on the stain anywhere from 20-40 minutes before laundering.

Now, for set stains, the result of electric tumble dryer drying when a stain is present, not much can be done for that.
