Over The River & Through The Woods...

.

Are you staying home for Thanksgiving or going over the river and through the woods to Grandma's House?

And this Thanksgiving, what are you most grateful for?

We will be home for the holiday.. just my husband, me and our 3 dogs.

I am thankful that I have food to eat, a warm, safe home to live in and with my husbands financial support am able to be a housewife and spend time with my dogs and husband without the outside demands of a job.

It will just be three of us...me, my husband and my son. Unfortunately, my daughter is in the hospital due to a psychiatric emergency. I am thankful that she has stopped hurting herself as she was doing earlier in the week. She isn't able to come home tomorrow, but we will be visiting her after dinner.

Oh Jane

I'm so very sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope that she can get help and at least you got her some help now instead of when it's too late. Try to enjoy the day.

Thanks for your kind words. My daughter is 19, and her first psychiatric difficulties started manifesting at age 8...just about a year after we adopted her. It has been very tough. We have felt very fortunate in living in an area where there are psychiatric services for children. We also received a great deal of help from our school district. She graduated from high school last June, and moved into a young adult group home...we think that maybe all the changes in her life this year have contributed to her present crisis.

We talked to her this evening, and she sounds as if she is feeling better. She said she may be discharged early next week. I promised her that the next time she is home, I'll cook some of her favorite Thanksgiving dishes.
