Does your teenager have a "MySpace" (or similiar) account?

If so, did you know about it before hand or did you find out by surprise?

Actually guys....I have a myspace.
I got it so I could monitor the kids and it worked. Actually alot of the Christian bands I listen to have a page and alot of the kids added me. I am known as mom or aunt Cat.
Its crazy!

There is a diet version (and I love it) :

and a Christian version...but I can't remember the name.

at least two of my dd's (older than teens) have myspace and my 11yr. old dgd has an account. I've never been interested because of all the bad publicity about it. When I join something like that it's to make new friends (I hope), just like ICQ. I joined that several years ago and it was great. After a couple of years I started getting very graphic and lewd im's from people on ICQ and had to drop it. At first the bad posts were way after midnight-I used to stay up real late-then they got earlier and earlier. I might eventually look at myspace.

Hello all,

Yes, my almost 16 year old son has a myspace account. I saw him on it about 2 days after he set it up. He has it set up so that only his friends can see his profile. I had him set me up a myspace page, so that I could keep an eye on his. After watching him a couple of times, I learned how to work it. And I am really enjoying it. Here is my page if anyone wants to see it.

I was surprised by friends my age that have it. I am 41. It is kind of cool to be able to personalize it to show off your personality.

I always keep an eye on my kids page.

He has one- I knew he did. He communicates with his friends. For some reason, my teenagers do NOT like to talk on the phone. Everything but, he texts, he uses myspace and IM

Nope not a single person in our house has my space or the like. ds2 (12) has a couple of school friends on MSN and ds1 (16) has MSN but people he talks to are from various forums, he leaves a forum the people go.
Neither have ever asked and they'd tell us if they'd want one.

Me Too!

Yeah I have one too. I originally got on so I could add my son as "my friend" so I could see what was going on. I do not use it too much, it takes a long time to load. I have no patience.

Here's mine:

My dd (20) and my ds1(17) both have my space pages. They are marked as private so only friends that they allow can view their pages. I can't just access them but if I ask either of them they will show me their pages. As daisylady mentioned, teens today do not communicate by phone. Mine do it through their myspace pages. Dd keeps in touch with high school and college friends this way and ds1 makes plans with his high school friends this way. They both have email accts. but never use them - they always use myspace instead. My ds2 who is 12 does not have a myspace page. I feel he is much too young. I hope I have taught my dks to be responsible and not give out personal information to people they don't know. That is one thing I do worry about. It is amazing how artistic my dks have been with their pages and how much fun they have adding new things to them.
