Question Baking Soda ?

Hi everyone.
I have just joined this forum and have been browsing some of the recent threads. I saw a recipe posted for Nobby Apple Cake which I would really like to try but I have a question. In the recipe one of the ingredients listed is baking soda. I live in the UK and over here we have baking powder an bicarbonate of soda but not baking soda. I was wondering if anyone new which one I should use.

Hello Castlelady!!

I just checked in my kitchen cabinet and my box of all purpose baking soda says Bicarbonate of Soda. I thought baking soda was the same thing, but double checked!!! Good luck with your baking!!!

Hi Lauri

Thanks for checking for me. I have got Bicarbonate of soda in the cupboard so I can bake tomorrow. I will let you know how it turns out.

Hi Nicola
Thanks for the post.
I didn't get chance to bake over the weekend. Sun was shining for a change so we made the most of it. I have made the apple cake tonight and it has been a great success. We ate it warm with fresh cream.
Mmmmmmmmmm yummy!!
