Instant Rice

I have found several recipes I'd like to try, that call for "uncooked instant rice."
I don't like to buy instant rice, as we really don't eat that kind. We prefer regular long-grain rice or jasmine rice.
If I were to use regular rice in place of instant, I know I'd have to adjust the cook time, but would I also have to add more liquid to the recipe?

That's a good idea! I'll have to try that. Thanks, Misti.

Thanks, I'm always afraid of goofing up the recipe so I end up not trying a lot.

You can precook regualr rice and just adjust your recipe for cooking times. In other words since you are adding precooked rice you won't need to cook as long; just enough time for the rice to warm in the dish. You may actually have to cut down your liquid some as the rice will be precooked and in some instances you can just thicken your dish with either cornstarch method or if applicable instant mashed potato flakes (they do a good job of thickening). Good Luck!
