Middleagedmommy - you may not realize it, but Jeannie really wasn't directing her comments at my humble opinion.

If she had meant for her comments to be directed especially to you, she would have put your name in as I did above.

Please don't take it personal! ((hugs))

One of the things I like best about Family Corner is that we can all feel free to express our opinions....within certain boundaries.

Whata boring place this would be if we all had the same opinions on everything!

Again, please don't take it personally, ok.

Always listen to your children and allow them to decide what their comfortable with calling a step-parent. Let them know whatever they decide is ok and mean what you say! Good Luck to you all.

Middleagedmommy hi, I think almost everybody has no doubt you are a great mom and have best interest of your son in your heart. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding between you and Jeannie, but I'm glad it's been resolved. However I was surprisrd to read a response of Juniormom. And who is this Dr. Laura anyway? I think this advise of her as of extremely not smart - to say the least, sorry. And I was glad to read your gracious answers to Juniorsmom.
I have opposite problem. My 2 children (2 y.o. and 4 m.o.) have different father, and we live together with the father of my youngest one. My older one started to try to cal him dad or pop, but I feel my b/f doesn't like it (yes, we are not married). Other than that he is a really great father's figure, but it still makes me feel sad. My son's biol. father gives child support (through court desigion), but he didn't come to visit him for more than 18 month now (and he works in 5 minutes walking distance)...
Oh, and about the 'child support is for the child'. When judge doubled amount of child support because of big child care expences, he was upset and tried to argue with the judge, saying he believes he gives enough money already for child's food and clothing. The judge was very mad and said that the child is a part of household and my expences increased because of him (like rent, hydro, transportation, meds etc. etc.). Plus I also have to sustain (sp) myself in order to raise my son...
