Child taken away from mother and now lives with Dad and Stepmom.....

Too make a long story short. My fiance' daughter who is 6 was finally taken away from the mother. I say finally because the state took the child away and gave custody to the father. The mother is a proven drug addict and has left his daghter in danger repeadly. My finace' has been trying to get custody for years and now are prayers are finally getting answered. This is a rough situation for the child b/c she does not understand what's going on. She is now in a different state, starting a new school, missing her brother and so on. How do you explain to a 6 year old that her mother is not well and she needs to live with us? There are more twists and turns with this story like there is also a 3 year boy who is now in foster care.

I am 25 and getting married in July. Love children and want to do the right thing.

HELP!!

I feel so sorry for these kids...
I suppose you just tell her what you said here. The truth explained on her level is probably the best way. I am sure she already understands the issues as she has lived them.
I have a 6yodd and I hope things become better for her now.
I would probably leave the explaining for her dad to do and be there for support.
