Small Town USA

Hey!! I'm from Richey Montana--VERY SMALL!! Like 120 people. 1 grocery/hardware store. One bank. One PO. 2 bars. a gas stations and a few odds and ends like Senior center, Cenex Harvest STates. I love it! Small town life is my cup of tea! I'd love to chat with fellow Montanans!! (I'm actually FROM Jordan Montana--all my life)!! Tracey

Former Montana gal

I used to live in Darby Montana. We have relatives still there, and good friends in Ekalaka. Montana is beautiful and I miss it. We currently have a ranch in South central ND, outside of Solen, ND where population is maybe 123. Just like you, small town. Solen has a PO, garage, school and a bar. Thats it. 25 miles south, we have a small grocery store, 3 gas stations, Taco Johns, another takeout food place, another school, and another PO and the courthouse,(where I work) . The closest big town is Bismarck, 63 miles north of me. I do like small towns too. Unfortunatly, I do miss places to eat. Our favorite "local" place is a small bar/diner which is 40 miles away. Seems like the miles really rack up on the cars. But I love living away from it all. Welcome aboard!!

Montana

I agree..small town life is much better. Emigrant is a small ranching community also. Our closest "big" town is Livingston, and then it is another 23 miles to Bozeman. So it's not so bad!I would rather raise my girls in a small community than in a larger city anyday!

See by the last post, it's been quite some time since anyone has put in their 2 cents worth.

I am a transplant from WA state. Lived in a city of 65,000. Don't miss it a bit. Now am living on a ranch 14 miles from the nearest small town. ( Northeastern MT).

The peace and quiet is so rewarding, wildlife and wide open spaces is the way to go.

There are times I miss my family/friends, but thanks to the Family Forum and the emails I receive daily from family, I keep busy with gardening, cooking ( snooping in cookbooks) and soon will be participating in an antique / flea market in Minot ND.

Keep warm everyone, as the weather sure has turned cool fast , winter is breathing down our necks way too fast for me.

Joy
