Hi Leace, I'm Minny. I lived in Pinellas Park for 4 yrs. I loved the beach, especially Indian Shores & Indian Rocks beaches. I loved going to John's Pass & walking thru the shops & walking along the boardwalk & watching the pelicans & boats on the water. The only thing you have to pay is for your parking meter. The Pier in St Pete was nice, but from my understanding, they are going to tear the pier down. I also enjoyed the Clearwater Aquairum.. especially the dolphin show. I think we only paid about $7.00 each person.
Sally O, I lived off 49th St & 93rd. Been to Largo Mall lots of times. Been in Marshall's.. wish I had known you then. I recently moved back to Ohio after the passing of my husband.

Leace -I don't live in FL, but have relatives who do. There is always something free to do. On the 4th of July, there were free fireworks, looked so pretty reflected on the water.
I live in the Upstate of SC, spend a lot of time at the local library where I have a coupon club weekly. I sit in the coffee shop daily and talk to people about coupons as I cut and sort mine. One volunteer talked to me about the snack packs she does for the kids at Shriner's Hospital. Our hospital is a Regaional one, accepting kids from as much as 3 hrs. away. When they arrive, they get a snack pack which includes batteries for their play games. I now give her the coupons for multi packs of snacks and juice boxes.
The programs at the library are free with a free library card. There are programs for the small children who can read called, "Reading to the Dog". One of my friends brings in her therapy dog who is trained to be around children. She said it gives the children confidence to read to the dog. The younger children can sit and listen. There are programs for the older children, the teenagers, and adults. Also, DVDs, audio and visual programs can be checked out free. There are many computers with a printer and copy machine at or disposal.
I attend a lot of Grand Openings of businesses. If I miss seeing the info or hearing about it, my senior friends call me to let me know. The local churches, colleges and universities have programs for the community, even if you are not a member of their church or college. You can sometimes attend a Dress Rehearsal of a play for free.
Our local newsppaer, available at the library to read for free, has a Happenings Section on Wednesday which tells of all the things that are going on, some that cost, and some are free.
Hope you investigate some of these ideas.

Leace how are you liking Pinellas County??
Hey Girl, How you liking Pinellas County? Now that tourist season is winding down, I have been making the trip to Lakeland back and forth to see my fiance' and takes me about an hour each way. I noticed yesterday that there are less cars from out of state on the interstate. I guess that is a good sign. Wish we still had the cool weather, but I guess it is back to paying Progress Energy for the ac!!!! Minnie, I see it is warming up in Ohio that is good. My sister and brother in law live in Northwestern Ohio near Toledo. Hope everyone is doing ok. My Tampa Bay Rays are not doing well, but oh well hopefully Evan Longoria will be back soon. Sally

Moving to Florida
I have been in Florida al most 24 years and we love it. We live in central Florida which is an hour away from the ocean but do have five large lakes in our area. Does your husband know what area He would like to move too?
Every area has different temperatures and rainy conditions.
I live in an adult community with no children & everyone over 55 yrs. old with rules and regulations that we go by. Some don't like the idea but it does keep the value up so it doesn't depreciate.
We have our own clubhouse & pool. It is run by the residents and is very friendly place to live in. We all own our own home and land and take care of our own property. All the houses are different which makes it nice.
We are close to doctors & hospitals which is important at our age. Plenty of shopping nearby.
You should take a trip to Florida before you sell so you can
check the areas out.

Thank you Sueanne. We want to stay close to his son who is in Palm Coast that general area. Can you have 2 small dogs and a cat in the community? Also do you have to pay a park fee?

Hi, Yes you can have two small dogs. The fee is $127 month that includes cable t v, and sewer. We own the development so the fees include maintenance & insurance on it.
I came here when it was just starting so was able to pick out my lot and the house I wanted built, it was exciting to start over again with all new friends.

That sounds wonderful!! It would be nice if we can sell here and buy there. It would be a good feeling to have someone there that knows what I'm about. We have two small dogs and there sisters. There mixed shih hua and Chihuahua and one long haired Maine coon cat that is an inside. We would like a decent mobile home with a good size kitchen. Where is this located?

These are stick built homes not mobile on concrete slabs in Leesburg. About an hour from Palm Coast in Central Florida.
