Moving to Chicago, Illinois very soon!!

My husband got relocated to Willow Brook, Illinois (west side of Chicago) and have to be packed, and moved in one month. We don't know anything about the area and would love to have any information that you can give me. What's the crime like? Are there lots of doctor's offices/hospitals? (I'm in healthcare field), I'm a bargain shopper and love coupons. What kinds of grocery stores are there? Do they double or triple? Tell me all you can!! Thanks a bunch

actually, we're checking out the areas of Aurora and Batavia. We found a wonderful townhouse in Batavia and hope we get it.

Hi, I am in NW Indiana(Lowell). We have Meijer's, Aldi, Jewel plus several smaller chains. Some of the smaller chains will double coupon up to $.50. Jewel has a prefered card to save money. I mostly go to Aldi & Meijer(which I'm sure you know living in Mich.) to save money.

We are considered the Chicago land area & get Chicago news even through we are in Indiana. We are about 15-20 mins. from the Illinois border.

We go to Chicago a few times a year. There are lots of good museums(Art, Science& Industry, Field), plays, sports(Bears, Cubs, Sox), Festivals(Taste of Chicago)etc. Lots of good things.

Crime varies by area- not sure of your areas. There are lots of doctors/hospitals in this area & malls, Target, Walmart, Kmart.

Indiana is cheaper than Illinois we have a lot of people live here & work there.

Even though we are only a short drive to the IL border, it's quite a hike from here to the west side. You'll probably find housing much cheaper in the area, but I'm not sure that the drive would be worth it. Just my 2 cents... goodluck!

Hi MomsZoo, we are practically neighbors only 15 mins away!! And as my name suggests I love gardening too!! I went through the Master Gardener program in 2001.

I love your butterfly! I do a lot of butterfly & hummingbird gardening.I recently put a feader on my deck & have been watching the little birdies. So cute.

You are right it is a drive to the Illinois surburbs. I was just letting her know that we are near the border & within driving distance of Chicago. I sure would not want to drive there every day with the traffic,road construction & gas prices. Especially in bad weather. It would be too much of a hassle(for me at least). But there are people that do it everyday.

I used to be one of those people that drove that everyday. I lived in Kenosha, WI and drove to Northbrook, IL (a northern Chicago suburb) for work.
