Need gift ideas for a neighbor who has cancer

Our neighbors are seniors and weve just received some really sad news....he has been brought home from the hospital to live his remaining days at home. He has cancer throughout his body and has gone through all of the extenvie treatments and has decided to come home. This said, I want to take them a little gift when I go over to offer our help to them. Although we are neighbors, we are fairly new to the nieghborhood and we havent gotten the chance to get to know them that well. My husband and I are going to go offer any help to them but I feel empty handed just showing up at their door to tell them that.

Any ideas on how to go about this ?

Let me start off by saying I am sorry to hear about your neighbors.

Bringing food is always a good option for the elderly. Whether it is a a whole meal, casserole, dessert or fruit basket. It seems that these are always welcome.

Other ideas are certificates to food stores and drug stores. There is always a need for need and medications.

Maybe even offer services to them, doing their lawn, taking them shopping, etc....

I hope these ideas have helped.

Fruit or baked goods basket

AJRSMOM - that's very nice for you to be thinking of your neighbors.

I agree with Shawn, food is always a welcome gift. When my fil came home from having bypass surgery, they received alot of baskets of fruit - but the best gift was one that had baked goods in it as well as fruit. There were apples, oranges, grapes, pineapple, plums AND small loaves of banana bread, nut breads, muffins.
