Scalloped Tomatoes

Scalloped Tomatoes

1 large can of tomatoes (use the tomatoes you have canned)
drain off some of the liquid
salt & pepper to taste
a little sugar
about 1 Tbsp finely chopped onion
toasted, buttered bread crumbs

Drain off some of the liquid from the tomatoes, cover the bottom of a buttered baking dish with bread crumbs, add seasoning to the tomatoes. Place the tomatoes in the dish over the crumbs. Top with more buttered bread crumbs.
Bake in a HOT oven. Mayber for 30 minutes.

Sorry mom never did put an oven temp or time on this recipe, but I usually cook it at about 375 and for about 30 minutes. Till it's bubbly. It is a really good side dish especially if using home canned tomatoes! Enjoy
