Heritage Day?

Miriams troop had a heritage foods day. Or something like that. you were to bring in something that you would eat,(baklava-German) tell the girls what it was and what country its from. I think they should have also had to say a word in that language and tell what it is. I only know a swear word or two in German so I'm glad it didn't happen, LOL.

Coll - I hate to say it, but Baklava is a Greek and Middle-Eastern dish.

I probably would have had my DD bring Kuliche and Cheese Pascha (both Russian) and talk about how they reflect the old Russian culture and bringing holy traditions into the home, making the home and the Church extensions of one another. And the words I would have had her share are in Slavonic:
Kristos Voskrese!
Voistinu Voskrese!
(Christ is Risen! Indeed, He is Risen!)

Cheerio!

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, I guess I better do a little research and inform my German friend. He owns a bakery and that was supposedly one of the family's specialties.

Baklava may be one of his specialties, but a Stollen would be more German! LOL! Reason I know about this is my attendance at several Greek and middle-eastern festivals as well as all the Greek and Lebanese and assorted other Mediterranean and middle-eastern people at our Church!

Cheerio!
