Letters to Iraq

Does anyone have a address to send letters from the Girl Scout troops to military personnel in Iraq?

Anna, my Big DS's Boy Scout Troop has "adopted" a soldier in Iraq.

How did we get the address? Someone that my DH works with has a son in the military, and DH heard that he had been deployed. He got in touch with his coworker.

Periodically the troop collects donations of coffee and phone cards (that's what was on this soldier's wish list, and he shares them with his buddies). We box them up and mail them to Iraq.

Just after Christmas this soldier came home. He had DH's email address, and let us know that when he returns to our area he wants to visit the troop! DH asked him for the name of another soldier that the troop can "adopt" and the troop is now sending to the soldier who has taken the first guy's place.

Anyway, my point was that it was pretty easy to find a soldier. Just pay attention--maybe a friend of a friend knows someone who is deployed.

Oh, actually, I was just thinking that a couple of ladies on here have family in Iraq. Vickilynn's son and also Montanaczech has a grandson over there. They would have APO addresses for sure, and may be able to help. Just a thought.

Thanks Jamie

I just emailed them with the question as I didn't see anything specifically designated for my question. I'll post the info. here for others when I hear back from them.

If nothing else, one option is to just find a local recruiter and talk to him. They are usually very friendly (lol) and will almost always point you in the right direction. Sometimes they give out freebies like pencils, etc. which might be fun for the girls, too. Anyhow, hope that helps!
