Baby Bundles

Is your local Girl Scout Council participating in BABY BUNDLES? Our troop is doing it as our service project for bridging to Juniors in June. We are hoping to collect 800 baby items which would be 100 per scout in our troop.

If you know of any businesses that manufacture or distribute baby items that we may be able to contact to ask for donations please let me know.

If you would like to donate new/unused baby items for our service project please let me know that also.

Thank you.

That is a very good idea. Wonder if I should contact the local store or can locate an address for their corporate office. Thanks.

Actually I can locate an address for their corporate office cause my boss used to be one of the big shots there.

Try the locals first. Also, try Sams, BJs, Target, Wal Mart, and your local grocery stores. Speak directly with the store managers and be ready to provide them with information (preferably something like a bulletin or a letter from the benefitting organization) during your meeting. Also, have a form type letter to send them to thank them for their donation or their discount on products (make sure that it can accommodate the store name, the manager name, the product/discount, and the benefitting organization as well as the Scout Troup). A public thank you works wonders as well. Some of the corporate offices might provied coupons to include.

Let us know how it goes.

If you have some girls who have access to sewing machines and can get donations of flannel or other kinds of material. They could make some recieving blankets or sleepers.

To make blankets:
Cut material into pieces 36" X 36", or 36" X 45" depending on how big you want them to be. Then hem the outside edges about a 1/4th inch hem around each side. The 36" X 45" is crib size. If you make the 36" X 36" you would make more blankets.

And the there is some patterns at these sites:

I hope this can help you with your project for your group.
