glad to hear your son has got his inerest back... so often boys will after summer camp, as it that extra boost that they need.

he did good getting those merit badges. I've seen it where boys has earned 0 or just 1...

Archery and Riflery are often received at summer camp.

Space Exploration, do not know anything about that one... I think it a new one since I've been out, or I just didn't pay much attention to that one.

Environmental Science it takes time to get that. and it good it out of the way...

so how many merit badges does he have now?

are you getting him to sew those badges on his sash?

daisylady you are so right... going off to camp is much better, and it gives you some time without our kids being under foot.
glad your son enjoyed too

oh I remember those days at summer camp with the boys... not only summer camp, but cup summer camp too...
that part Idon't miss. LOL

Barbara, as part of the Space Exploration badge he had to make and shoot his own rocket. DH took a video of it. It was pretty cool! I don't know what else he had to do for the badge.

Scouting takes the work of many parent volunteers who are active in the Pack to make it fun and interesting for the boys. We have a very active Pack Committee who oversee each den to be sure they have support, ideas and guidance to make the meetings at the den level fun for the boys. We have revamped the Pack meetings every year to keep what works within a one hour time frame. When my boys first joined the pack meetings were too long on a school night.
We also have mandatory parental involvement. If your child is in our Pack then one parent has to fill a volunteer position. This has been a source of conflict for some parents but oh well. It can be as minimal as dishing out salads at our Blue and Gold banquet to filling a committee position. One hour to thirty hours per year.
I guess what I'm hearing is my son is bored but I'm not hearing how the parents are becoming involved in some way to help make the Pack more interesting to the boys.
