Mama3, we'll be starting up with our Tigers together in a year or so! My little guy turns 5 in March. Just about the time my older son gets going on his Eagle project, the little one will be starting out.

Kellygirl, 30 boys is a nice size for a pack if they are dedicated kids! I know what you mean about parents taking double duty. But the payoff is tremendous for the parents and the boys--and the community!

Catwoman, I can't wait to hear about your B&G! Hope you can post pictures of the luau cake.

My son is an Eagle scout, he's got 3 boys of his own and not one is interested in scouting. My DH does a lot with the scouts 1 of our grandsons loves scouting and DH does enjoy it.......Hugs...

Happy6, he just turned 15. He has a few more merit badges to complete and then he will begin his project. The leaders in his troop aren't talking about projects with him or any other boy who still has badges to complete!

Barbszy, when my ds was in cub scouts, he was the youngest, not to mention the littlest. They wouldn't let him do anything.
Whenhis sister was in Brownies then girl scouts they let him participate in everything they did. They even called him their mascot.

Hi everyone,

Haven't had time to post much lately. Well, our B&G went very well. Food, decorations, crossover, etc. We had a turn out of between 80-100 people. Never could get an accurate head count but that is everyones best "guestimate" We did the decorations on Mon. night. The food took several days of preperation in several different stages.

We had appetizers of fruit and cheese on hawaiian skewers. BBQ ribs, green bean casserole, oven roasted potatoes, mac & cheese and rolls. All washed down with about 10 gallons of tea/koolaid.

We had 3 categories for the dad and lad cake bake. Hawaiian theme, cub scout theme, and Blue&Gold theme. My DH and DS won 1 st place in the Hawaiian theme. The cakes were so cute and creative. DH took picuters, maybe I can post them on here soon.

All in all it was a success and I'm glad it's over. We will be having our district crossover on Tues. night and that will be my sons last activity as a Cub Scout.

I hope to be staying on with the pack as a committee member to help with special events, etc. I love scouting so much, I just don't want to be a den leader anymore. 4 years of weekly meetings is enough for me!

What has your pack been up to lately? How was your B&G?

Hugs,
Kelly

Sounds like the B&G was a big hit!

Congrats to your DS on crossing over I hope he has a wonderful Boy Scouting experience. He's off to a great start, obviously

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share with you about our District Crossover from Webelos to Boy Scouts. It was fantastic!!! It was held at a lake just before sunset. All the boys and their parents were together. Across the lake came a canoe being paddled by 2 Indian Warriors holding flaming torches. They got out at the lakes edge and lit a council fire on one side of a bridge. They gave a very theatrical presentation and called each boy by name to take their place by the fire. Then they lit a fire on the other side of the bridge where the Boy Scout troops and their leaders of all the various troops in our council were waiting to receive the boys that were crossing over to join their troop. They placed the red shoulder loops on their uniforms and the new neckerchiefs. It was really great and the boys were in awe to say the least!! It gave them a very exciting start to Boy Scouts.

I am remaining with my Cub Scout Pack as a committee member. So, I guess I'll be posting on the Cub Scout and Boy Scout threads. Alex's troop has already been on a caving trip since he joined. He had to miss it because we were gone to Washington DC on a school trip. They are going on a backpacking trip this month.

Kelly
