Just wanted to say that our treasure hunt and obsticale course went great. Our pirate helper was asome. I was at school a few days with a problem that is going on with my other sons classroom and the custodian came up to me and said he had fun doing this for the boys and said he would help us out any time we needed him too. He also said that alot of the boys came up to him and said Mr. R. you really look like the pirate that was at our last meeting. He was dressed as a pirate to the tee and the boys did not know that it was him. It made it that much more realistic to them. We have him talked into doing something with us for our end of the year den party but we are still trying to come up with ideas for that.

Once again I would like to thank everyone for the ideas.

Kimmer, I'm glad your event went so well and the boys (and grownups) had fun with it!

Who knows, maybe the custodian will become involved with Scouting because of his positive experience helping your troop!

Kimmer,
I'm glad you guys had fun. Not sure what kind of obsticale course you had. But, for your last meeting you could do some safety stuff for the summer fun the boys are planning. Have they done anything like bike riding safety or Swimming safety?
With bicycles you could have some police officers maybe setup a safety course for the boys to ride around and do a bike safety check-up.
And with the swimming safety you could have a swim party at a local pool with the families invited and include the families with a potluck picnic..
Or you could do some trail safety. And learn how to layout signs for a trail with markers or how to read trail signs.

Has your Pack done a Bridging or Crossing over ceremony? That's where the boys cross over to the next level in Cub Scouts.

Here is the webpage for the BSA National Council

http://www.scouting.org/

Hope that this gives you some help. And good luck this summer.

I will try to post some camp songs on here too.

Vicky

Here's the webpage for scout songs.

http://www.scoutorama.com/song/

Hope this works for you.

My son that is still at home is in a Boy Scout Troop and my 19 year old daughter is in the Venture crew now.

I had all three of my girls in Girl Scouts and the BSA Venture Crew #2248.
And both of my boys were in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. And the oldest, 23 now, was in the Venture Crew as a singer and drummer, and is an Eagle Scout.

The BSA Venture Crew studies, preforms and teaches Native American Culture. They perfom at some of the Blue and Golds for Packs and sometimes at Court of Honors. They also put on an annual Pow-Wow and go to as may other Pow-Wows as possible.
