HELP! water problem

HELP! I filled my tub this morning and ended up with a tub full of VERY grey water. Thought maybe something was wrong with just the tub plumbing, but found the same thing in the sink and the washing machine. Any ideas as to what the problem might be before I call the plumber? I have a private well and do use a water filter. I'm scared this will be a very expensive problem!!

I just did a google search and came up with several things that might cause it, including old pipes or that your well may need to be disinfected.
Has it rained a lot recently? Runoff can also cause a problem.

This was one of the more helpful sites I found:

Thanks, Barbszy! The plumber is on the way. He mentioned the possibility of old pipes too. Or possibly a problem with corrosion on the inside of the well. Hopefully whatever it is isn't crazy expensive!

solution to the well water problem

Found out what was going on with my water. The guy who came out said that sometimes there is a shift in the earth (maybe from a distant earthquake, etc) that will cause shale and dirt to mix into the water in the well and make the water very murky. He ended up running the water through a hose outside for a couple of hours and it cleared up. He said it happens more often than I would think. So I paid someone to come run my water for a few hours, but I'm very grateful that my well is not defunct!!! Thank God for that one!!!

I'm glad it worked out well (not a major, expensive repair or loss of the well!)
