Vacation Bible School

Does your church host VBS? What's it like? Do you have a lot of children attend each year?

We just had our VBS for our 1-5 graders. We had 500 kids, 275 volunteers, and 104 came to Christ. The kids are separated by gender and grades into groups where they have their lessons for the day. There is also a production in the sanctuary daily. There are contests and games between the girls and the boys. They earn "Bible Bucks" for bringing their bibles, doing worksheets, learning verses, bringing friends and various other things throughout the VBS. They get to spend them on different things. My son worked hard and earned an electronic dart board and a few other small things. There is also an award program and parent night on the last night. Afterwards there is ice cream, cookies, chips, and drinks.

Praise GOD, that many came to accept Christ.. what a big VBS too.

Ours was back in June. We had 65 kids, 1 came to the LORD. The kids could start arriving from 7:30, but the opening didn't start until 9 I think it was. VBS was over with about 3:30. After VBS there was a movie kids could watched until parents could picked them up, which had to be at least by by 5:30..
It was a 5 day VBS.
The churched paid for all the kids to have T-shirts.
Staff had to wear them daily, but the other kids were able to get thier's on Fri.

The theme was New York.
I was one of the session teachers, and did the bible stories.

I have to share with you an amzing thing that happened.
one of the lessons was about the woman that washed Jesus's feet.
I was inspired to do allow the kids be able to wash the other kid's feet.
I started off by washing one child's foot. I then asked if they would be willing to allow somone to wash your feet?
Then my next question was if they would be willing to wash someone's else feet?

I had asked the LORD, if only a few would do this, I would be touched and blessed.
Well my K students I washed thier feet, but the other classes, I was so surprized that all of them wanted to do this.

My 2 gd's was with me that week, the oldest one not only wanted to wash my feet, but she was willing to dry my feet with her hair.. boy that bought some teardrops down this ole face of mine.

I only had 1 wk to prepare for this session as the lady that was going to do this, her husband had to go to the dr. and they knew there was a possiblity chance he would have to face surgery that week. so I took this session over..
