Anybody want to share a secret meatloaf recipe with me ?

My DH hates my meatloaf

Im trying to find a recipe thats not too plain yet not stuffed with out-of-the-ordinary items that he wont eat. This is harder than it sounds.

At my very last resort, we wont be eating meatloaf in my house, LOL !!

Any help out there ?????

I know this sounds stupid, but have you tried the meatloaf seasoning mixes? Like from McCormick? This is the only way we will eat meatloaf, and the sandwiches with the leftovers are YUMMY!

In response to what doesnt DH like ........Im beggining to think he just doesnt like meatloaf !! Im trying to find a happy medium becasue the rest of us does. Even though we dont eat it very often at all, I would like to enjoy it when we do.

Ive tried so many recipes......he doesnt like the plain version with ketchup, bread crumbs, eggs ect.... he doesnt like it with oats ( thats how my mother used to make it )....... he doesnt like it with tomato sauce on top , although I thought he would since he loves red sauces and pasta !!!

I have found frozen meatballs that we can compromise on because he doesnt like mine either--I tend to like firm meatballs and he likes them kinda mushy and made with milk.

I can live without meatloaf ....

Other than this, he will eat just about anything I cook so I cant complain too much !!

BUT .....youve given me some great recipes so I might have to torture him a little more so that I can try these !!

Thanks so much !!!

Who says you have to?? You can make up a meatloaf, then split the meat into four portions. Form them into mini-loaves, then freeze them. When you make something that YOU aren't crazy about, then you can have meatloaf!

Meatloaf recipe!

All amounts are subject to likes and dislikes, what you have available and of course how big your family is. These are only
approx. amounts because I rarely measure anything when I cook, so I just don't know.

1-1 1/2lbs ground beef
spagetti sauce (no set amount but approx. 1/2 jar)
cheese (I use cheddar, mozzarella, whatever I have and approx.
a heaping handful)
Bread crumbs (I have never used prepackage bread crumbs but
I'm sure it would work fine. I use whatever bread I have
that is starting to stale, I have even used cracker
crumbs and a combination of both. Approx. 2 heaping
handfuls)
2 eggs (remember it depends on the amount your making)
heaping tablespoon garlic (I love garlic)
italian seasoning (approx. tablespoon just because I like it)
onion (minced approx. tablespoon because I like, but hubby
doesn't (he hasn't noticed yet))
salt n pepper (whatever you like)

and any other ingredients you like (ginger root, thyme, etc.)

I know this is annoying but I don't measure (I just throw it in) and My ingredients change according to what I have in the house.

I preheat oven to 400
I throw all ingredients into one big bowl and add spagetti sauce while mixing by hand till moist.

Put in a loaf pan. pop into 400 oven for approx 45 minutes. pour off grease and reduce temp. to 375 for 30 minutes. Pour off any more grease, turn off oven and let set in oven(you can top with more sauce if you like, I don't care for it but others have loved it) while you finish up rest of meal.

Again I'm sorry if this is annoying

Note to 'ajrsmom': Put what you like in your meatloaf and experiment till you find what your husband likes, meanwhile let the rest of the family enjoy 'ajrsmom a la meatloaf'. Familycorner is right on the mark with individual portions. I have done this and it works great, just be sure to adjust cooking times.

meatloaf recipe

Hi there!!!

My hubby doesn't like meatloaf with onion soup in it, so I had to come up with one that he would like (because I love meatloaf). I finally found one that he will eat, and it's so simple. I just add a package of stove top stuffing (any kind)and an egg, Voila! yummy meatloaf. I usually add some shredded chedder or mozzarella cheese and put it on top. Hope this works, Karen

When I make meatloaf I put in:

whole oregano
basil leaves
lemon pepper
garlic salt
soul seasoning
seasoned salt
meat tenderizer
crackers
eggs
onion
ketchup
1-2 lb ground beef
cheese

I don't measure my spices out, I just add until I think it's enough.
Mix all together (except cheese) put 1/2 to 3/4 in pan, shape into loaf, then make a indentation across the top and place cheese there, then add remaining mixture and seal edges. Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour or until done.
