Never really checked into the whole organic thing! Maybe worth a little investigation. It all pretty much LOOKS the same to me, other than the prices!

Well, I rarely can afford organic, so my neighbor and I are planning a garden for this summer... So IF anyone has good advice to get a good crop here in the North East.... please give it up!! LOL (She has 6 kids, and I have 2 and 2 steps, so we have many mouths to feed!)

That was a tough question! I do purchase certain foods organic, I would like to always purchase organic, but I also am forced to forgoe certain items because of price.

Lately at our grocery, we have had a ton of organic produce sales (10lbs for $10) mix and match! We also have found that organic grains (rice, couscous, etc) is actually cheaper in our community. We too have an organic coop.

Then, in the summer, we garden huge! We just bought a house (first one) and it has a huge backyard that my 6yr old ds and I have divided up to be half garden. We always garden organically, it just tastes bettter
A messy house and happy children . . . I choose to spend my days playing!

Hi everyone

For the folks who weren't quite sure what organic is, here is the definition. Basically, no chemicals pesticides, as close to nature as possible:

-- Of, marked by, or involving the use of fertilizers or pesticides that are strictly of animal or vegetable origin: organic vegetables; an organic farm.

-- Raised or conducted without the use of drugs, hormones, or synthetic chemicals: organic chicken; organic cattle farming.

-- Simple, healthful, and close to nature: an organic lifestyle.

organic buying

I buy organic as much as I can, but if the price is way to high then I don't. Some of the prices are just unreal on some organic products

I do buy organic if I can get it on sale, but as a rule I don't buy it often because it's so expensive. When we visit my mother in Central Texas, we go to the local farmer's market on Saturday mornings, and the vendors all sell organically grown produce. We'll buy whatever we can get our hands on that we can afford, especially tomatoes and cucumbers. Yum.
