Bensmom.............have you found a church yet?

Boggzs, that must be a good feeling to have been going to the same church for family generations!!

Candy, your church sounds very loving and caring.

We converted to Russian Orthodox (Christian) (similar to Greek Orthodox) 26 years ago and haven't regretted it for an instant.

Orthodoxy is totally different from Protestant or Roman Catholic, although from the outside looking in, it might resemble Roman Catholic a little. It is very liturgical and emphasizes the mystical aspects of Christianity. The Orthodox Church is less "one-sided" than most of the other groups with which I am familiar. We don't rely on any *one* aspect. We are a conciliar Church - we rely on concensus in council. We do not have a "pope" although we do have a very hierarchical structure with a synod of bishops ruling.

There is so much else I could say and it would take up so much room here, that for those who might be interested, I'll just give you a "few" URLs:

My website on Orthodoxy:

A very complex website about traditional Orthodox Christianity:

Other websites with lots of information about Orthodoxy:

If you are interested in these, you will find many other links. You can also search on Google under "Eastern Orthodox Christianity."

Thought I would bump this one up for some fresh and new insight!

How is everyone doing at their church homes?
What kind of church activities are you involved in?
Are you content?

hugs, train

I found the church I am
going to thanks to my then Boy Friend he was
Deacon and asked me if I would like to attend.
I did and have been going now since Dec of
'86 and member since Jan of '89. Otto has been
gone now over 18 yrs but I still go there when
one of my church family gives me a ride there.
That will be my church home til God calls me home
Oh it is New Apostolic Church
I will take what I am served knowing someone out there is being served MUCH less

Church I'm going to now, was the church my parents went to. It is the church that I always called my home away from home church, and if I ever quit the church I was going to this would be the one I would go to, and I am now.
It about 25 min from the house, and it a small church, but everyone there is friendly, and make you feel welcome, and good to be there.
