My favorite has to be Ryan's. I love their hotbar.:p You can go around and get whatever you want. And it is only about $10 for all you can eat. The closest one to us is probably 35 to 40 minutes away though.

My second favorite is Rio Grande it is a mexican restaurant. I love their food.

Hi TxCchef Fran, I remember the "Purple Cow" in Plano!! Cool place!!
We had Braums in Allen...right up the street from our house!!!!
My favorite was the "Tuxedo" sundae!!! I ate WAY too many of them!!!!!

Have you been to any of the tea shops on Lovers Lane? There are a lot of artsy fartsy places along that street I really liked..shops, tea houses, restaurants and antique stores. A fun area!!!

My fav restaurant when I lived there was Joe's Crab Shack!!!

peace,train

There's a Cracker Barrel about 5 miles from my house... mmm, breakfasts there are so good.

In Houston, my favorite restaurant is probably Cafe Adobe. Such good enchiladas, and their refried beans are just great- not too salty, not too bland.

Whenever we go to Austin, we try to swing by and have a meal at Threadgill's- oh my GOSH, the garlic-cheese grits are the BEST, as are the fried green tomatoes!

Speaking of fried green tomatoes, there's a neat place in Jackson, Mississippi called **** of the Walk. They serve lots of fried stuff on the menu- fish and chicken, skillet (corn)bread, fried pickles- served family-style and it's sooo good.

**Note: I'm not trying to be foul, but the name of the restaurant's been filtered out of my post! Suffice it to say that the missing word is another term for "rooster" and the term... "Rooster" of the Walk has to do with the men who steered barges up and down the Mississippi River in the 1800's!

best restaurant

The best for my family is The South Avenue Pizza Company and The Bar Next Door. It is one restaurant, which is family oriented on one side and you go through the adjoining door and you are in the Bar Next Door. It is absolutely fantastic! If you are ever in Springfield Missouri you must eat there. Our second opinion must be Lambert's "Home of the Throwed Rolls." Delicious and tons of leftovers!

We have a new "Red Lobster" restaurant here in town. I am wondering if anyone has been and if you liked it ? Just looking at the people waiting to get in on the weekends I imagine their food must be great!!

peace,train

Red Lobster is great if you like square fish-ha! It is ok, but not a real seafood restaurant like you would find on the coast of FL or the Carolinas. They do have wondreful biscuits and fairly affordable prices for those with a family.

For Seafood we go to a place called Coopers. We do not eat at Red Lobster because their food is pre-prepaired and then just thrown into the microwave to warm it up when you order it! Catwomen if you ever get over to Bryan/College Station you should try Zarappes in downtown Bryan for some really great Mexican food! Question for ya???? Do the Cracker Barrells have regular resturants where you sit down and order off a menu?????

RE:Cracker Barrel

I just home from my daily excursion to Cracker Barrel. Yes, it is a sit down kind of restaurant and the food is good home-country style cooking. It is my favorite place for a home-style meal. They have delicious meatloaf, breakfast specials and yummy desserts.
Breakfast can be had all day. I've never tried something there that I did not like. The country store has wonderful gifts for Christmas as well, and they gift wrap for free.
