Dinner or Supper?

My DH has suddenly started using a term that we usually don't use in our family. That term is "supper." We usually use the word "dinner" to describe the big, main meal of the day. Of course, I wanted to know who he was hanging around with! lol I never use the word "supper." But, when I have heard it used, I have heard it used to describe a light meal at night such as soup and sandwiches.

So, what do you and your family call the three meals of the day? I call them "breakfast" "lunch" and "dinner."

We say breakfast, lunch and dinner or supper, whatever comes out of my mouth at the time. Sometimes I'll say if you're hungry come eat. Or Soups On!

Here in the midwest it has always been supper. We had dinner on Sunday and I still say supper during the week.

Growing up and now in my own household, it is and has always been breakfast, lunch and supper.

The only exception is Sunday Dinner....because usually is it such a big meal that the only thing you eat in the evening is a bowl of cereal or a piece of fruit.

Depends on where you live or have lived. Growing up we lived in mo. It was breakfast, lunch & supper. Now it breakfast, lunch & dinner. All the same thing really. We still call it both at times. Both are correct.Either place we still say "ya'll come & eat now "

Both of my parents were born & raised in Missouri so I guess that is why we have breakfast, lunch & supper!
