You laldies can come on over here and we can have grapefruit. I do not like the grits either. I am not too far from trainlady, just across the state. LOL. I have chex for breakfast or cream of wheat. I won't mind cooking french toast for you.
Hugs, Stormy

I don't eat breakfast all the time either, though I know "they" say you should. I do like all kids though, pancakes, muffins, cereal hot and cold, bisquits, french toast eggs even grits (esp with cheese and garlic).

DS usually has oatmeal for his breakfast. Use a handful of plain oats and a packet of flavored. DH eats the cold cereal Cinnamon Toast Crunch 75% reduced sugar (it is really good).

The fresh grapefruit sounds so good!

breakfast

Well, it is 6:30 PM here, and after reading these posts, I am craving french toast and pancakes!!! My DD loves to eat leftovers from dinner for bf. Or, sometimes I will even cook up some boil in bag rice....at 13,she can eat the carbs I can't have as often! At first, after my being raised on cereals, graham crackers and pop tarts, I found it weird that she would eat dinner stuff, but after thinking it thru, it is much more nutritious than the sugary stuff I had!

Bluebird - I would liken the texture to cream of wheat. By themselves they are bland. I have eaten them plain with butter or with butter and garlic, with shredded cheese and with cheese and garlic. I just asked DH and he said it was like eating wet sand (needless to say he does not like them - doesn't like corn either). Grits are from hominy which is corn.

I would have to agree with your DH on the wet sand taste and texture. I love cream of wheat, but grits, no thank you. I know some people really do like them though.

When I am home by myself.. breakfast is usually coffee or I will eat a bagel once in a great while. When my SO is home.. I will make the works.. whatever he wants.. waffles and bacon, sausage gravy and biscuits, eggs, toast and bacon,etc.. I always make a big breakfast on the weekends.

My grandmother used to tell me that over & over in order to try to get me to "like" grits.....never worked.

I don't like grits but I LOVE hominy!!!

Abear - I have to laugh as I love corn and like grits but hominy is not my favorite. I don't think grits taste anything like corn or hominy.
