Happy face Ham & Split Pea Soup

With a ham bone leftover from the holidays, this is one recipe I will go back to over and over again. It is warm, tasty and satisfying.

Ham & Split Pea Soup Pressure Cooker

1 lb dried split peas
8 cups water
1 mall ham bone or 1 lb ham chunks
1 onion - diced
2 potatoes - diced
2 carrots - diced
2 celery ribs - diced
2 tsp garlic - minced
1 1/2 tsp dried thyme

Pull all ingredients into the pressure cooker, making sure it is not over filled.
Bring to pressure and pressure cook 20 minutes.
Release pressure naturally.
Remove the ham bone and meat. Pick through and chop ham into small chunks. Put back into the soup.
Taste and adjust seasonings with S&P.
*Before adding meat back to soup, you can puree the liquid if it is not thick enough for your taste, then add the meat back.
*Optional is one to two chicken bouillon cubes.

Serve with biscuits fresh from the oven.
