Some recent faves

Some of our recent faves:

The Quiltmaker's Gift
The Empty Pot
Knuffle Bunny (A Cautionary Tale)

And ... it being pumpkin time, does anyone know any good pumpkin books? I've taken out a few duds so far. Runaway Pumpkin is pretty good.

Cheers!

I don't have any little ones, but I do love to buy books for friends with newborns. I hope that they will be encouraged to read to their little ones, even as babies. A few of my favorites are:

Goodnight Moon

Love You Forever

Any of the Dr. Suess books

Max Lucado has also written some wonderful children's books.

I have a friend whose daughter loved the Junie B. Jones (I think that's right) books when she was probably in the second or third grades. (Just for when you kiddos get a little older.) I haven't read these books but my friend is very particular about what her girls read.

Also, Richard Scarrey writes some really good children's books which I find funny with a name like Scarrey. LOL

Hope this helps you out some.

My dd's favorite book at that age was "Goodnight Moon" & we still have it. She is 10 now & still loves to hear that story. So, when she gets the chance she reads it to my friends little ones.

We definitely share your favourites in our home!

We are big fans of Eric Carle's The Hungry Caterpillar. My daughter enjoyed it and now my two year son loves it and has most of it memorized...when we visited NYC last weekend guess what we brought home - yes, a (small) Hungry Caterpillar from (a very crowded) FAO Schwarz .

The Bear series by Karma Wilson is also enjoyed at our home, as well as Jane Yolen's great How do Dinosaur series.

And speaking of NYC, I would add Abuela, Taxi Dog and Lyle Lyle Crocodile to our favourite list. I enjoyed Tar Beach, my daughter needs a bit of awareness of the world to fully appreciate it.

Thanks for sharing, all the best!

My youngest child discovered books by Mo Willems. They are FUNNY He likes all the "pigeon" ones..
The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog
Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus
Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late

Fun read-alouds and even big kids will enjoy reading these to their siblings.

I love finding new books to read to my kids. Of course when I get to the library, I never know which ones to pick. These are good ideas, anyone have any new ones to add?

My kids favorite seems/seemed to be "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom"
