Bleeding during the first 3 months?

Has anyone experienced off and on bleeding during their first 3 months and went on with a normal pregnancy?

I was admitted to the hospital this past Monday night with some bleeding and severe right side pain. The doctors couldnt tell me what the pain was but they rulled out a tubal pregnancy and said that the baby was in the right place and that my uterus was tightly closed. Im still experiencing some bleeding though off and on just about every day. Every one of the doctors that I saw that night said that some women have bleeding during this time and everything is perfectly normal. The problem is that although Ive heard this so much from doctors, Ive never actually talked with anyone that has experienced this and had a normal pregnancy.

Ive been told that since I have PCOS, it might be that some cysts have burst and this might be causing some of the bleeding.

This is like being on a roller coaster ride full of emotions with every waking minute!! Every time that I dont find anything, I think that maybe everything will be all right but the times that I do find something, it puts me right back into shock worrying that the worst might happen yet.

Im really hoping to talk with anyone who has gone through this. I will be 8 weeks on Sat.

Thanks,
Tami

Hi Tami,
Rest assured it is not abnormal to bleed in the first 3 months - scary as ever though, I know.
I bled off and on with pain for the first 3 months, I had my cervix stitched as my doctor felt it had been weakened thanks to treatment I had had previously to removed cysts. I went on to have an otherwise uneventful pregnancy and normal birth - my son is now 5.
I was lucky to have a great doctor who understood my anxiety and arranged for an internal scan so I could see for myself the baby was doing well.
Take it easy and rest up - take care of yourself.

I had on and off bleeding for a few weeks with my 3rd, very worrying I know! But I was checked out and everything was perfectly fine. My sister in law had the same thing and went on to deliver fine a couple of weeks ago.
With my 2nd, I bled heavily for the first 6 weeks, I didnt realise I was pregnant so I wasnt very worried, I went for a scan about 9 weeks into it for some "unrelated" pain and bleeding and they found a heart beat!
When she was born, she had a double placenta, so the midwife surmised that yes I had a miscarriage early on but was still pregnant. It would have probably been twins.
There are many reasons for bleeding during pregnancy as your GP or midwife will tell you. Sometimes there is just no reason that is explainable, as with my 3rd. It is worrying. But extremely common. Several friends have had it too and have gone on to deliver fine.
Don't forget that the docs and midwives are there for you and do understand the anxiety of a pregnant woman! Every bleed should be checked out by a professional because you never know, but 9/10 there isn't anything "wrong".
Congratulations!!!!!! By the way! Ooh babies!!! Love them!!!

Thanks so much to both of you for giving me some reassurance on this. It feels better just knowing that someone can relate to how I am feeling. Although my Dh is certainly trying, he can really understand how this upsets me. He is just going by the assurance from the doctors that things look fine so he doesnt want me to worry. Its the combination of how I feel inside and what is happening that worries me.

I have an appt. with my doctors on Tues. so I plan on discussing this with great details.

I know that its not good to worry all of the time either but.....how cant I?

Like I said though, Thanks So Much for telling me that it is possible to go through this and be ok.

I bled light amounts throughout most of my 2 pregnancies. My doctor sent me for ultrasounds for both just in case. Everything turned out fine - I have 2 beautiful children!
