I think the email part is a good idea too....especially when we are involving our international friends, since the mail can take sooooo long! This way, the kids can do the back and forth "get to know you" stuff through email or ecards! It sounds like a wonderful addition to the program.

Kathy, you KNOW there is no such thing as a dumb question!

I am having trouble copying links today....can't figure it out...so from here, back up to Postcard Swap For Kids, and then click on KIDS POSTCARD SWAP RULES & GUIDELINES. The thread is closed, but the post at the top from ajrsmom explains how it works.
Hope this gets you there, until I get my linking figured out!

Yes Barbzy I should know by now after how many years that dumb questions are just questions but I hate it when it should be so obvious and straight forward and I can't figure it out.. I saw the locked threads and that's what threw me.
I hope that you figured out your linking

if the new rule is you got to send emails, how about the younger children that doesn't know how to type?

last time it was 4 postcards and no emails, why does that have to change?

Not complaining, just asking

thanks

with it having to be emails, I will have to drop out totally
as my class won't email, and either will my gkids as they have no computer...

but I respect the new rules but just don't like them... sorry but expressing my feelings... again not trying to be negitive..

We are changing the rules to 2 postcards because many felt that 4 was too many to have to send in one month.

The emails are being added for a couple of reasons....

1. The kids will have a chance to get to "talk" and get to know each other better.

2. For our members that dont live in the US, it takes longer for the kids to get ( and for the receiving kids to get) any mail and this way they can still talk to their pals.

You can write the emails for the kids from your email address if you want to. If you are willing to do this, then whoever is sending an email to your kids can address it something like this" Joe, my postcard Pal ---so that it will be easy for you to distinguish.

For the younger ones, it doesnt have to be anything fancy, just a "hi" and something about them, their favorite shows or websites.....whatever.

I really dont want to see you drop out!!

Barb, I agree with Tami. This doesn't have to take your gkids OR your students out of the picture.

If you are willing to type their message for them (you could write down the school kids' messages in a notebook while you're at school) then you could send them out that way. You can print out the messages at home and read them to the kids.

Because the mail sometimes takes so long for postcards, especially international ones (and mail to Canada is slow--mail to Australia just seems to crawl there) the idea was that the kids would get some more "back & forth" and get to know each other, asking & answering questions.

I was thinking you wanted like ecards or more talk amoung the kids... and I knew there was no way of doing that.
If I can write it for them, I can handle that.

I knew my gd's doesn't have a computer, and If they did I wouldn't want my daughter on this site... I think you understand.. I need to vent from time to time, and don't need problems with her being here at Fc or creating problems for you wonderful gals ....

also I knew we wouldn't be allow to get the kids on computer at school.

Thanks for explaining it more Tami and Barbz. as i would hate to drop out too

I know Chynna loved doing the pc's exchange, she would make her cards and sometimes send little things to the girls... Robin daughter made a wonderful little pc friend...

Oh can I relate to this! My sister keeps saying that when she gets her Internet service back that she is going to check out this great site that I talk about all of the time--------I certainly hope not! I shouldnt even think this but I dont want her creating problems here either.

My sister's lifestyle isnt everything that she makes it out to be--and then some.

So I understand how you feel bar_bar!!!

Barb, Agree with the others we would like for you to stay. The email will work better and let the kids get to know each other better faster. With the cards the same questions would cross in the mail and they would have to wait for the card to come and answer and ask more. It just took a while and the kids especially the older ones want more interaction.

I write my ds's cards for him as his postcards pal couldn't read his writing. He would dictate what he wanted and I would write it out, so you doing that would be no problem.
