Upside Down Apple Pie

Melt:

1/4 C Butter or margarine
stir in 1/2 C brown sugar

Put in bottom of pie plate

cover with pecans or walnuts

Make your crust like you would for a regular pie. Put the bottom crust on top of the nuts. Fill with your favorite apple pie filling ( I like to use fresh apples), put the top crust on & bake as usual.

Put a piece of foil under plate or put it on a cookie sheet. as it may drip.

As soon as you take it out of the oven, turn upside down onto a plate. You may have to run a knife around the edge if the caramel has oozed out. Don't let it get cool or the caramel will stick to plate and make it hard to get pie out in servings.
