Jrztomato - don't worry I had to look it up when it came home too as I didn't know exactly what it was or who to take care of it. My son kept calling it a chameleon. However it is a lizard and quite common in the South, in fact they consider it a pest sometimes.

My dear cat knocked over the Anole's "Camile" cage today. He has been looking at it intently when I have put the cage in the window so Camile can sun. He turned it completely upside down, so I had to gently turn it back over slowly so I did not upset Camile or squish her.

We have a slew of those little lizzards...sometimes called camelions(sp)..in my yard...I hate when they get on the screened in porch...Harley would love to catch them but neve hurt them..I guess he just liked the challenge....I love to sit on the porch and watch them sun themselves on the garden statues, etc...cute...but like I said only as long as they are outside....they eat bugs so that is also a good point in their favor....

Isn't it funny what qualify as pets for some? Ours is the only one that has survived since being sent home with the boys. They held them a lot in school but my ds does not like to and neither do I. Since Camile has come to our house she has not been held and has not been out of her cage and that is the way I hope it stays! She does eat crickets which I have to buy and hopefully will catch in the summer. I don't touch those either buy them in the bag and just dump into the cage. I like to watch it change colors.

I don't know if Mittens would eat it or not. One thing I do think is that he would most likely kill it.
