Ah yes. I remember it well. Teaching Tara to go outside and do her biz. I got a subscription to Dog Fancy for well over 5 years. Boy did I learn a lot from that magazine.
Just remember one thing, once they eat or drink? They are going to need to go outside. So be prepared for an other end experience. Patience and love. Lots of praise. Ask questions and don't be afraid to call animal emergency with any questions. They are wonderful.
I remember it well. Easter Sunday. We clipped her quick. Boy did that thing bleed. Everywhere. Toenail clippers with a guard. Otherwise, if it is going to need grooming? Let your groomer do it. We have a great repoire with ours. She goes in in April and then gets butched in June. Just before our camping trip in July. Good luck. We are getting another baby in 2 years.

dogs and kids...

We got our dog as a puppy when my daughter was almost 4 yrs. old. She had wanted one since she was 2 but we told her she had to be old enough to help out with taking care of her. So she was old enough to help and does a great job. It was like having another kid around. You have to watch them constantly and puppies and dogs take up a lot of time.

I just started pet sitting for people that work long days and need someone to take care of their pets during the day. Most dogs can't wait 8 hours to go out and do their business! And they shouldn't be expected to hold their bladders that long. I also do it for when they go on vacation to keep the dogs from going to the kennel and sitting in a cage for a week! How fun is that?!

Dogs are a big responsibility!

Stacy you said a mouthful. If more people were as responsible we'd have less strays, less pups abandoned and in pounds..and less dogs being put to sleep.....
