I guess you have to do what you feel is right for you and your pets....I base my decisions on pet care by advice given from my exotic vet, by doing a little research on what is a more natural diet, by what is available for purchase and add a little common sense.
Years ago cat chow was thought to be OK but since then much better things have become available and much more info is available.
The comparison chart was given a 100 point value system based on ingred. protein, fiber, fat. etc.
Fish sources increase body and waste odors. Vegetable sources were given a 0. Ferrets are carnivores..
Basics for ferret diets should be..min. of 30% protein, 20% fat,
3% or less of fiber.
Many, many birds and animals will eat whatever you hand them but that does not mean it is good for them....
much like humans we eat what tastes good but maybe not what is healthy for us.
I do offer my guys Ferrettone or other ferret additive. They think that is a treat.
Again, I base my feeding decisions on well being and over all health performance. I don't think an occasional treat is going to hurt anything but I do limit them.
IMHO of course.
Best of luck to you and yours...

Help..

I have three ferrets, and I have had them for 3 years. I just found out that I am allergic to them. They cause my throat to swell... My father will no longer let me have them. I would like to find a loving home for all three. All supplied with 2 cages. One cage is 3 levels, and the other one is a reg. ferret cage we used for traveling. All is free. If you are in the Polk county, Orlando, or Tampa Florida area... And if you are interested e-mail me. [email protected]
We are willing to give them away for free with everything. We just want a loving home for all three.

Just saw the cute photo you posted. What a cutie. Reminds me of my dd ferret. Rodney!

DD has two ferrets. Lassie is pure white, and Rodney who is mixed color. She looks almost like a raccoon. Don't know why she nnamed a female Rodney, but. The toher one's name is Lassie.
