A Horse's Prayer

This was a poem I had on my wall when I was a young girl. It's a beautiful poem and any horse lover will appreicate it

Feed me, water and care for me,
and when the day's work is done,
provide me with a shelter,
a clean dry stall large enough
for me to lie down in comfort.
Talk to me, your voice often means
as much to me as the reins.
Pet me sometime that I may serve you
more gladly and learn to love you.
Shoe me properly that I may serve you in comfort.
Never strike, beat, or kick me when I don't understand what you want,
but give me a chance to understand you.
And finally oh master,
when my youthful strength is gone,
do not turn me out to starve or freeze,
or sell me to some cruel owner
to be slowly tortured or stoned to death,
but do thou, my master,
take my life in the kindest way, and
your God will reward you here and hereafter.
You will not consider me irreverent if I ask this in the name of Him who was born in a stable...

i love your poem

my name is carlie. i have been around horses all my life. this saturday here in nevada, my daughter and i will be riding in the pony express. which they hold here once a year. itsto relive the old mail delivery from years ago. my old gelding is 23 and he will be ridden this year. my daughter is riding her mustang gelding. and we also have a half arab/appy mare that is going too. we will be riding the last 11 miles. i wrote a poem about my gelding.

"my bandit"
Majestic... you are...
All the years you have given
are in your eyes...
Your symbol is power,
but gentle is your soul.

You are...
My horse

i was also raised with my qh pony who was very special to me too.
i had written this poem for him a while ago.

"for nicky"

It was morning when I saw you,
you came galloping with a whistle.
I rode you proud and strong,
for my heart belonged to you,and yours
to the sky.
Your eyes were dark and kind
your color like the sun
who would have thought, you would be the one.
You gave me hope and I gave you praise.
We sailed through the wind and rain
upon your back so bare.
Just a your hair

hope to see more poems in th future
take care.

Carlie, Those were wonderful poems.
That would be alot of fun riding in the pony express. Oh the wonderful world of horses. I'd love to do something like that.
I've never had my own horse, but have always loved them. I had lessons, when I was younger. Learned to ride English, but prefer Western. I was in 4-H for a couple years. I used my 4-H leaders horse. It was really good, but it wasn't great, because it wasn't my own horse. We lived in the city, and my parents wouldn't buy one for me because it would've had to have been boarded, and they thought it was an extravagance they couldn't afford. And I didn't "NEED". I'm still waiting for my first horse to come along.
I was watching Americas Horse the other day, and I was really thrilled to hear this lady say she was 42 before she got her first horse. That made my day. I'm going to have my own horse within the next few years. And I will be on Cloud 9 from then on. My dh won't be though. Because he says he'd never see me. Which would be about the truth. I'd spend EVERY moment I could with that horse. I think that's probably why he won't let me get one now. ;-) He loves me.
I LOVE that HORSE!!!!!!!
If you spend your whole life waiting for the storm, you'll never enjoy the sunshine.
