Dog has ulcers on eyes. Help!

My shih tzu was acting like his ear was bothering him so I was buying all the ear stuff and then I noticed his eyes were closed. Tried to open them and he was yelping in pain. His regular vet (the good one) is on vacation so I took him to another one and this was beyond cruel and I ended up getting some medicine and then telling him what I thought so I'm sure I'm not allowed back. Have been putting five different drops in his eyes twice a day and one of them every two hours. He can't see and the dog's suffering. It's been almost a week now. His vet won't be back until Monday. Does anyone have any suggestions at all? I found a pain pill that was from when another dog I have was fixed, melted it down in a syringe and forced it down his throat. He won't drink anything or eat, sleeping a lot and I guess that's because he's not hurting as much when he's asleep but every now and then he shakes a little. His eyes are closed and one is now crusted over and when I try to put the drops in it he's screaming in pain and I just cannot stand the thought of him hurting and what I have to do when I know it's hurting him.

That poor dog! Have you possibly tried warm compresses?? I know when my DD had a bad case of pink eye when she was about 5 yrs old, the pediatrician recommended warm compresses along with the eye drops and oral medication.

It might help.

Hi Abear

I've tried the warm compresses and he yelps in pain. Today we finally got his left eye open, it was full of puss so I cleaned it and put all the drops in there but his right eye is horrible looking and has that side of his whole face swollen up huge. He's not eating and I figure it's making his teeth hurt. He's sleeping so much and that worries me too. I gave him some antibiotics that were one of the other dogs and after that he drank a little water but very little and I was giving it to him through a syringe. His regular vet will be open Monday so we'll be there bright and early.
