Anna... it's so obvious that you care for your dogs.. they are lucky critters. Your vet is the best source of information regarding your dogs. So if he's happy with them, then it's ok. *s*

Doesn't the county get after these dog fight people?

Yes the county does get them, about once a year we'll hear about them breaking up a ring. The latest trend though is to cut out their vocal cords, in fact we just turned someone in for that a few weeks ago, in Ohio it's a felony to own a pit bull with no vocal cords. He got evicted from his rental property and I don't know what else happened but they do take it "dead" serious.

Fighters take out the cords for two reasons:

1. Neighbors can't hear the fights
2. The "sensitive" folks who pay to watch these fights don't want to hear the animals crying in pain.

It breaks my heart in two to hear of any animal being abused this way and I think there should be even harsher penalties in place.

I absolutely agree. There should be fines for those who run these cruel fights as well as heavily fining those that go to these fights. When you hit hard in the pocketbook, lots of things cease.

Amen.

And the spectators should be punished the worst, if they didnt pay to attend, there would not be any "shows".

That is just awful! "Sensitive" my foot! I agree, they would stop if they hit them in the pocketbook!

We have that down here in NC, too. We also have the law about owning too many animals and not being able to care for them. They just arrested a man for owning 15 dogs and cats and they were so malnourished...oh the pictures on tv were just heart wrenching.

I have often wondered about people like this. I wonder if they take care of themselves, family, children the way they do their animals or treat them the way they do their animals.

Astro is a member of our family! We love him like he is one of the kids and heavens the kids love him like another brother! They sure do treat him like one. Liam, my dgs, just loves him to death. I cannot imagine life without him.

Yes, it is sad that the State of Ohio, doesn't get harsher on the penalities...how about prison time? for people entering their dogs in fights like this...

Sorry to say but this area has been notorious for "dog fights".

I think it should be against the law in all states to removal vocal cords in all dogs, it is just not right to take the animals 'voice' away.

Love Janet
