Potty Training

HELP!!!!!! I have a Yorkie Poo puppy that is 6 months old and I can't potty train him. He goes everywhere! I tried the treats when I took him outside. Then when he comes back in he may go poo poo in 5 min. when he is back inside. I have used the puppy pads also. I also leave my back door wide open so he can go out by himself and he won't even do that. Am I expecting to much out of him?????? I also have a lab mix and long hair dachsund. I have never crate trained either.

All suggestions welcome!!!! Hurry my carpet is getting yucky.

I highly recommend crate training him. You want one big enough for him to turn around and stand up, but not big enough that he could stand up and walk to the other end, go poty, then go back and lay down in a clean spot. Dogs are instinctively den, or "cave", animals. No matter what the breed. They will NOT (in MOST cases) soil their sleeping area.

Hi. I don't have a suggestion, just wanted you to know I feel your pain. LOL I also have a 5 1/2 month old puppy who just can't get a grasp on the whole potty training thing. I have never crate trained either, but I kind of wish I did now. We also have an older dog who is potty trained (he was when we got him) and I hoped that seeing him go potty outside would help her to learn, but no such luck. Good luck!
