Mexican Themed Candle Party!

I'm having a Gold Canyon Party in October and I thought it would be fun to make it Mexican Theme. My cousin sells the candles and said that would be fun.. so I thought about making Margarita's (alcoholic and alcohol free) and a mexican bean dip) anyone have any other ideas on how incorporate a mexican theme into some fun activities at the party?

Have you thought about having quesadillas and/or guacamole? What about decorations using sombreros, colorful maracas, and you could see if you can find some Mexican blankets, which are so colorful to use as tableclothes or table runners. You can also use a pinata as a decoration too. If you have a pestle and mortar since they are used quite often in Mexican cooking and they would make great decorations if you have any. Good luck.

DeBora, how'd I know you would be the first to respond to this?
Sounds like fun.
Wish I was inclined to do parties like this.

The funny thing is that I will be off the computer for hours and hours and I STILL am able to beat you guys. Now, that is bad. lol

How about some;
Salsa and tortilla Chips, Mini Taco's, Mild or Hot Spicy Chili.
There is also a fruit salad;
Made with sliced Apples, peeled and sectioned Oranges, Grapefruits, and bananas. Toss the fruit together and pour a bottle of taco sauce with hot or mild temp. over all of the ingredients and mix well. Serve with toothpicks for eating.

You could make some Mexican Hot Cocoa.

How about some string garland with Hot peppers strung across the ceiling.

Hahaha! As I was thinking about post Quesadillas, I has a feeling that DeBora had already beat me to it!! ;)

We love ya, DeBora!!! :grouphug:

My suggestions to go with the bean dip would be salsa & guac. with chips, quesadillas or soft tacos, churros for dessert (I watched Sandra Lee make a quick version of these!) and you gotta have Sangria! (non alcoholic version would work but not be as much fun. lol!)

Go to a party store or to a Dollar Tree store to see if you can find cheap sombreros to hang up and to fill with chips. You could probably find some very colorful stoneware at the Dollar Tree to hold the dips or you could use terra cotta pots or even green peppers that have been hollowed out.

For cheap, colorful table cloths, again go to the Dollar Tree (can you tell I love this store!?) buy one red, one green, one yellow & one orange paper table cloth. When you get home, cut the each cloth into 4 pieces width-wise. Using one of each color, tape them together-red to green, green to yellow, yellow to orange to make one colorful table cloth. You will have 4 tablecloths when you are
finished.

Buy sombreros for everyone to wear! ;)

Hang Christmas lights or buy the orange twinkle lights that go on sale in October to help create a soft glow.

Gotta have music!

Most of all ...have fun!!! Sounds like a great party no matter what!

Tami, I never thought of serving sangria. I fruity drink with fruit slices in it. What about a flan for dessert as well. Keep us posted on what you decide to do for your party.
