blushing Going away party/Italian Theme

Hi everyone,

My supervisor is leaving and I want to give her a going away party in the office. Since she is going to Italy this summer for a few weeks, I thought it would be a italian theme. So far the only thing that I have thought of is red/white checked table clothes and sparkling grape juice instead of wine. I know we will do some sort of pasta. just now sure. Any and all help will be appreciated.

Doris

Big Grin Italian Theme

French Bread, Grapes, ivy, candles, those serving should dress like matri-d's and wear a tea towel draped over one arm. You could go far with this. Good Luck!

Red and White checkered table cloths, don't forget the music!

Love the idea of the candles stuck in bottles to drip down over the bottle.

Pizza cut into little appetizer pieces would be easier to handle in the office, than slices. Pasta and a variety of sauces (at least 2 different kinds), lots of bread and butter. Gotta have salad! For dessert, a quick version of Tiramisu is great.

Is this going to be a party type atmosphere or where people will be coming and going when they get a chance, to eat? If it is going to be a party, you could finish off the day by having a toast for a safe trip with non-alcoholic sparkling drinks.

This will be a little of both. the people in our office will be there and we will sit and talk then co workers around the building will come in share in our farewell. I have found a volunteer to make tiramisu and another to make an Italian Cream Cake. We have baked ziti coming as well as lasagna. I know there will be more pasta and maybe a soup. I was thinking about an antipasta platter. I love breads so there will be plenty of bread and butter around

My current supervisor has been a breath of fresh air for all. She is sweet and it will be a pleasure for all of us to send her away w/ all well wishes. We are a bit saddened but know this is what's best for her.

what a great idea. I would have never thought of the olive oil and pepper. I started looking for the chianti bottles at thrift stores and they were absolutely ridiculous in price so after enjoying a lovely meal at Olive Garden I asked the manager about empties and they told me I could come back at night and get as many empties as they had
