Golfer's BD Party

Golf Party

What Golf Fanatic wouldn't want his or her birthday to be centered around Golf?

Start with your invitations!

Golf – "40 Suits You To A Tee!", or "Happy Birdie to You!"

Put a picture of your Guest of Honor on the front with the "slogan" above that you like. Print the details on the inside!

"Happy Birdie to You!"

"It's a Tee Party!"

CENTERPIECES & PLACECARDS
Put a golf flag in the middle of each table. Write the birthday boy/girl's name and age on each flag. Surround the base of the flag with some green shred to create a "grassy" base. Create place cards by gluing them to two upside down golf tees.

NAPKIN RINGS
Imprint clear, golf bag tags to use as napkin rings. On one side, make copies of the person or event your party is honoring. On the other side, print the date and the occasion of your party. Allow each guest to take their golf bag tag home.

PLACEMATS
Using indoor/outdoor grass/carpeting, cut out "putting greens" to use as placemats. Shape each one a little differently to represent different greens. This will provide an attractive green surface.

FAVORS
Imprint golf balls with the theme of your party -- "Happy Birthday (name)". Then hand them out as favors.

ACTIVITIES

Create a fun and playful mini golf course inside with nine holes. Divide everyone into teams and keep score. Go down staircases, under chairs etc.

The center of each table can have a flag with the guest of honor written on it.

Encourage guests to wear golf attire. Provide guests prizes for the most outrageous golf outfit, the shirt with a logo from a golf course the farthest away etc.

Collect old photos of the guest of honor golfing and have them enlarged at a local copy store. Mount them on poster board and place them around the room.

Imprint your toasting flutes with a golf theme and Happy Birthday (name)

Collect old photos of each guest golfing and have them enlarged at a local copy store. Mount them on poster board and place them around the room.

Use unique centerpieces - 40 each of golf items - balls, tees, pencils, scorecards, markers, names of golf courses, etc. These can be placed in glass or plastic dishes, and placed on top of white circles of gossamer or metallic paper!

Food Ideas

Your food options for a birthday party are limitless! You can have an extravagant, sit-down dinner, or simple appetizers and drinks. The choice is really up to you and your budget. If you are going with a theme party, choose foods that fit that theme.

For food, you could turn a portion of your house into a Halfway house. Similar to a golf course, you could serve the usual items, hot dogs, chips, pretzels etc.

For a crowd your size, I would recommend a Buffet style menu or finger foods. While it may seem like a thrifty and personal touch to plan on cooking or preparing food for the party, you may find that it is generally best to do as little cooking as possible on the day of the party. Whenever possible choose food that can be prepared a few days prior to the party, or hire caterers, and purchase prepared food from restaurants, delicatessens, and food service markets. There is no need to create extra stress when the party is upon you, and you will have more time to mingle and enjoy the festivities.

Buffet ideas:

Built-your-own Tacos or Nachos

Mini pizzas

Burgers and hot dogs

Giant deli sandwiches (Subway has a great 6' sandwich)

Great staples for a buffet style finger food meal include:

Chicken wings

Chicken strips (offer 3 or 4 interesting dipping sauces)

Meatballs (Swedish or BBQ)

Mini eggrolls

Whole water chestnuts wrapped in bacon

Veggies and dip

Assortment of sandwiches made on mini buns (about 3-4 bite size).
