Thanks all, and aj for the pointer. I'm buried in run-a-muck paper here.

I no longer have a file cabinet. It was attached to the huge computer desk that dd now has in her room. I am using an old teachers desk and my laptop. The teachers desk has a shelf under it. I bought those file boxes to put there. I had copied Peter Walsh's list of files from It's All Too Much. I sat down today and started in. I have two file boxes all with files and they are in ABC order! I have another box for crafts. I am very proud of myself. Baby steps.

Connie, congratulations on getting started. I think that is the hardest part! I used to be a super-organized person, even when my DD's were small. Over the past three years, I have just gotten worse and worse about being organized. I have piles and piles of papers in various places in my house.

I am determined to take control again. I plan on taking a week off from work once DDs are back in school and doing nothing but getting rid of the piles. I bet about 90% of it can be shredded or thrown away.

This will allow me to re-claim my sewing/craft room and start being creative again - something I miss dearly!

I wish you all the best.

Kathy

I am feeling the pains of not sewing or crafting too. Dd's birthday is the 28 and I don't have the material washed much less sewed up! The basement is next on my list. I managed to declutter three bathroom cabinets too. One more to go. I wonder if we will burn up our paper shredders!?
