Getting motivated

How do youall get motivated and stay on task? Sometimes I wonder if I don't have ADD - my son does, but when I was a kid (40 years ago!) they'd say I wasn't paying attention. I have lupus so am plagued by fatigue and housework gets out of hand and then the place gets so messy, I just can't get motivated. HELP!!!!!!

Hi there! I know exactly what you mean about not being motivated. My teachers all used to say that about my 'homework' and now that's turned into my 'housework'!!! And the sad thing is, I don't really have any physical difficulties to deal with-so bless you that you are even trying to stay on top of things!

Honestly, right now the only thing that motivates me to clean is knowing that company is coming over. Of course that only works when I know in advance! I'm really trying to follow the advice from the flylady website-and it is slowly sinking in. However, I spend A LOT of time with dh and the 4 kids and I find my house falling way behind most of the time.

One other thing that motivates me is that when I have successfully cleaned a room or area-it feels so good to look at it that I think "just keep it clean from now on!" But then long weekends with everyone home occur, or weeks where there are just too many activities are going on and BOOM-I'm back where I started!

Take care and let us know how you are doing! Becky

On getting motivated; I have several hobbies I like to spend time with, so I tell myself that when i get my house straightened today, I will spend a few hours, painting, or sewing or reading, or whatever I want to be doing.

Or planning to go shopping, after i get my work done. I have a hard time getting going in the mornings now because i don't sleep very well these days. If I don't get things done first thing in the morning i may as well forget it.

Like ya'll said tho, having company over will get you going!
