ISO bread bowl recipe

Anyone have a recipe for these? I tried using my regular bread recipe and they weren't thick enough. I'd like to make individual ones for parties, etc. I've done a search but haven't had a lot of luck yet. TIA!

Well, I've only had chili in them, but I'm thinking any creamy soup, or chowder, would be good, too. Or dips for parties, if you want to go to the trouble.

I use the frozen bread dough, it's a time saver for me. I put the dough over a oven safe bowl and bake it upside down or for individual bowl bake over the bottom side of muffin pans. These are cute for a side meal / salad or for children.

What a good idea! I always forget about the frozen bread dough--I rarely go down that aisle in the store

Welcome to the boards, Amie--you're gonna love this place!!

I really like potato soup in a bread bowl. Top the soup with grated cheese and some bacon bits. HMMMM Makes me wish for cold weather right now. Also a thick beef stew would be good in the bowl.

Some people put a cheese dip in the bread bowl and use the pieces of bread that you take out of the bowl to dip in the cheese.

Don't forget about the Knorr's recipe for Spinach Dip that you serve in "Hawaiian King Bread" which is a bread bowl and use the cubed bread pieces that you scooped out to 'empty' the bowl. Knorr's is in a box...dried soup mix.
It is really a great spinach dip...and easy to put together.

I have made bread bowls in the past, forgot about them.
I think the recipe was in one of my PAMPERED CHEF cook books. I will look in them this week-end, and post if I find it. We especially love them with chili, & home made chowders. You can do alot with them though. Pam
