The name of this recipe drew me in to look at this thread.

I just had to look up a picture of them. Are they more of a cookie, biscuit or scone?

They look really good. I don't think that I've ever eaten anything like this with currants in it. How do you buy currants? Are they dried like raisins?

Thanks for sharing the recipe!

They were originally called turf cakes and were made at the end of the baking day from all the leftovers. They were cooked on a griddle over a turf fire and are a cross between a scone and a rock-cake.

Currants are tiny raisins from the zante grape and are bought dried they are a little more tart than raisins and cost more than raisins do.

Thanks for the info, Deb!

They look really good. I'm sure that I would like currants just like I like raisins.
