  • This is my favorite Holiday Recipe. I basically took from 2 other recipes and added my own touches to it.

    APPLE BREAD

    4 cups peeled,diced macintosh apples
    2 cups sugar
    2 teaspoons sugar
    2 sticks ( 1 cup) real butter
    3 cups flour
    2 large eggs
    2 teaspoons
    each--baking soda & cinnamon
    1 teaspoon nutmeg
    1 teaspoon vanilla

    Mix apples in the 2 c. sugar. Let sit at room temp for 2 hours, stirring occassionally.
    Grease 2 loaf pans.
    Melt butter. Add flour, soda, spices and apples together. Stir in butter, eggs and vanilla.
    Pour half in each pan. Sprinkle each with 1 tsp. reserved sugar.
    Bake 325* 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hrs., til pick in center comes out clean.
    Cool in pans 10 min. Refrigerate after fully cooled.
    These are delicious!!!

  • No I've always made loaves. But it would probably be just as good. It doesn't last very long, it's addicting.

  • This was good, I didn't do it as a loaf I made it in a slice tray, it rose to about an inch-ish thick, I baked it for 45 mins.
    I cut into squares and served with ice cream for dessert, was very yummy, will definitely make again. We had it cold with our ice cream but it would have been great with it warm out of the oven to
    A fraction on the sweet side so would do less sugar.

    The grandkids like it with whipped cream.
