My daughter is 15 and she babysits for 2 different families. One pays her 25.00 for the evening, they have 3 kids. The other pays her 5.00 an hour, they also have 3 kids. She is expected to leave the place as clean as when she arrived and they all seem happy with that. I remember when I was her age, getting 1.50 an hour!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

I was so fortunate when it came to babysitters. My mom, mother-in-law, oldest sister, SIL, and a close friend, all babysat for us, so no expense was incurred.

When occasions arose where I needed an outside the family sitter, there were two older girls in our immediate neighbourhood who I could always count on... one in her late teens... the other in her 20's... both experienced babysitters, and $2-$3 a hour (1990's) is what I remember paying, and they earned every penny of it!

When I used to babysit, I was never expected to clean-house, nor were such domesticities relegated to me, however, I do remember doing the right thing and tidying up at select homes where I knew the mothers had their hands-full. Dishes, picking up loose scattered toys, folding laundry/diapers, etc... the basics... but would have never taken on a babysitting job requiring me to clean house on top of caring for the children.
