lworth's orzo stuffed peppers

This recipe originally came from "The Big Book of Casseroles."
I modified it a little because I'm not a huge fan of ground
beef, so I halved the ground beef and doubled the orzo. I
also added the cheddar cheese.
Here goes ---

Orzo Stuffed Peppers

4 green bell peppers, tops cut off, ribs and seeds removed.
1/2 lb lean ground beef
1/2 yellow onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon italian seasoning
salt and pepper to taste
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 c. cooked orzo
1 1/2 cups tomato sauce (or spaghetti sauce, whicher you prefer)
1/2 c cheddar cheese

Blanch peppers in boiling water about two minutes, drain
and set aside.

Cook beef, onion, and garlic until done. add seasoning, worcestershire , orzo, tomato sauce and cheese. Mix well.

Spoon mixture into peppers, sprinkle with a little more
cheese, bake at 350 for about 30 minutes.

There it is, simple and quick, sometimes I do add more
sauce just depending on if it appears to be a little dry
or not.

Stuffed peppers

Hey Nagymom,
This recipe looks great. I've been looking for a stuffed green pepper recipe. I hope my family likes it as well! they're always good a trying new recipes.

I'm not a big fan of hamburger either. I'm going to use ground turkey. Have you tried that? It's really terrific. I also like the ground pork. If I have to eat meat, it's usually the turkey.

Thanks for the recipe!!

You're very welcome for the post. However lworth is the original poster so would have details on other ingredients. I simply (and happily) re-posted the recipe here when it was submitted for Chef Guy consideration. I'm really tickled for lworth!
BTW if you haven't ever bisited the What's for Dinner thread you should! There are many recipe ideas listed there by a great group of ladies.
