I just recieved Jonni McCoy's new cook book Miserly Meals. I was hoping there would be more recipes in it. Can anyone recommend a good frugal cookbook? I don't mind cooking from scratch as long as it isn't too complicated.
Thanks
I like the More With Less Cookbook by Doris Janzen Longacre. It's filled with some really great recipes and is totally about living/eating simply. I had to order it as no bookstore had it. It also has quite a bit of plain reading info, too. My biggest complaint was that it was kind of expensive (about $20.00) but I looked for it for awhile and was unable to find a used copy. I did check it out from the library and read through it before I bought it. It's pretty inspiring!
Jonni McCoy also recommends this cookbook in her Miserly Moms book. What's her cookbook like?
The recipes in Miserly Meals look pretty good. I just got it Saturday. I like the fact that it has the nutritional information for each recipe. I only wish their were more recipes. I do have "Not Just Beans" too. I like the dessert recipes in it. I am going to try that "More With Less" cookbook.
i love my not just beans cookbook. i use it about every other day i love the salad dressings breads etc. i also love her website when i first started cutting down and doing a budget i was very green and after going over her information i am on my way to the master tightwad. i like joni mccoy also but i can relate more to tawra.
I have the "More With Less" cookbook. (Grew up with it really) I checked the library for the "Not Just Beans" cookbook. They didn't have it and I haven't requested it.
I love the Not Just Beans website, too. Each month I would try to win a cookbook (being frugal minded and all ) but I finally gave up and just ordered one off the website! They weren't charging shipping and of course no tax, so I actually came out better than if I had bought one at a bookstore!
