Do you use Craigs List, FreeCycle, Cheap Cycle & other sites like this to buy & sell?
Do you use these types of sites to buy and sell items? Do you find one more profitable than the others?
I've had pretty good luck selling things on Craigs List. I always include pictures of whatever it is I'm selling. I've also bought from there, too.
I usually give away my "free" stuff on Craigs List, too, because it posts to the site faster. Our Freecycle group can take up to 24 hrs. to post ads and by then I've usually given the stuff away from CL.

I sold on Craigslist a couple years ago.. and was lucky on my first try at it, sold the items within 24 hours.
I also gave away a truck camper for a neighbor.. lesson learned on that is never give your phone number online. Her phone rang off the hook with so many sad stories of why they should get the camper, we gave it to the first person who responded to the advertisement through my email list.
I used it this spring on the Freebies and got a free truck cap and used it this summer for the Garage and Yard Sale listings. It was great.

You are doing it right by posting a photo.. I never look at the postings that don't have a photo, you really can't tell if it's something you are interested in or what condition it's in without a photo.
What irritates me is when people say Text Me and I don't do texting. Or they say just stop by and duh! don't put a address.

Our phone company has a free online buy, trade, sell, want to buy forum. I love it. Everyone here uses it. I recently joined a buy, sell, trade local FB page too. The local Freecycle group is small and slow.

Anna,
I'm with you...no picture, I almost always skip it.
I always post pics and then say for them to email me. Once they email me and I decide that they are serious about it (I've received several spam emails looking for info or whatever that I just delete), then I will give them my cell phone # to call me. I never meet someone at my house!!
There have been 2 shootings at the Charlotte Ikea recently from people setting up meeting to buy things and then they rob and shoot the seller. One was selling a laptop, not sure about the other one. The police are now saying that you should ask the buyer to meet you at the police station for the purchase.

Good morning all!!
My freecycle group disbanded because they weren't getting enough traffic. I was lucky enough to get several quality items (some in original packaging) from there and able to declutter some also.
I have been a lurker to my local craigslist. Not finding much I would buy, and not needing to sell anything yet. A friend who is not online has asked me to keep an eye open to see if anyone is selling a particular style of snowblower.
I agree on where to meet to do a deal. Our local police station is just a block and a half away from where I live.
Take care all!! Norma

Bumping this thread up. I know a couple FC members are selling household items Connie, Lisa, and Anna come to mind. Once I get organized and can take pictures in a timely manner I plan on selling some things we have around the house but don't need.

WE've had moderate success with Craig's List, the smaller items should be put on eBay but larger ones are nice to sell locally as shipping is not an issue then.

I have gotten a few thing for dgd on a local group on fb, but our town does not have a craiglist. Have not had any luck with our local freecycle.

I've offered things on Freecycle as well as
gotten things that way. Met a lady who lives in my
first neighborhood here in VA. She drives and I can't so
she picks up things for me and then brings them to me.
She has a dorm fridge she is bringing me.
I've gotten paperbacks from there as well as given
some. Our local F C is pretty active
